The Real Democrat

The son of a public school teacher and a videotape editor, Lewis Kaminski is a Bronx native, attorney, policy analyst, and activist. He is a progressive Democrat who has dedicated his life to fighting for our values.

Lewis worked with advance crews on John Kerry’s campaign, moved to Scranton for a month to knock on doors for Barack Obama, and helped run fundraising and field operations for worthwhile causes across New York City, including Planned Parenthood, the ACLU, and the Sierra Club. He served for four years as Legislative Counsel to Congressman Eliot Engel, where he drafted laws and advised the Congressman on policy matters ranging from taxes and economics to criminal justice, gun safety, and civil rights. In 2017, he joined the Steering Committee of CD16 Indivisible’s IDC Action Group, a group of local activists dedicated to educating voters about the IDC turncoats in the New York Senate.

A graduate of P.S. 24, George Washington University, and Cornell Law School, he currently works as in-house counsel for a software company in New York City.

Lewis lives in Spuyten Duyvil with his Siberian Husky, Toby.

We need help from every plugged-in, principled New Yorker if we are going to take down the IDC machine. Join us and support the movement today.

Meet The Turncoat

Jeff Klein creates maybe more gridlock and dysfunction than any other person in Albany. In 2011, Klein formed his IDC and joined the Republicans. Since then, he’s cut deals for himself and his IDC cronies, snatching taxpayer money out of the state’s budget so he can dole out political favors, rent bigger offices, and take a bigger salary for himself (he makes tens of thousands of dollars more than a typical Senator each year, because his deal with Republicans gives him the title “Deputy Leader”).

Klein is an independent who caucuses with the Republicans. He is not a Democrat. In 2017, he earned a 60% rating from New York’s Conservative Party, making him the most conservative Senator who ran on the Democratic line, and a more conservative Senator even than many Republicans.

If I have anything to do with it, (GOP Majority Leader) John Flanagan is going to be the leader for a long, long time.
